Your Narratives are shown in the Narratives tab inreverse chronological order, with the most recently changed Narratives first. After your Narratives, Narratives owned by others and shared with you are listed.

KBase stores a history of everything you’ve done to your Narrative, so if you want, you can revert changes and go back to an earlier version. When you hover your cursor over one of your Narratives in the Narratives panel, three icons will appear.

The first of these icons lets you expose the entire history of autosaves of your Narrative.

You can then, if you wish, choose an earlier version to revert to. This capability is still in the early phase of development and should become easier to use soon.

Adding text cells to your Narrative to explain what you were doing and what the results might mean will help others understand your computational experiments, as well as helping to remind you what you were doing. You can add formatted text to your Narrative in “Markdown Cells”. Markdown is a markup language (like, for example, HTML). It’s pretty easy to learn but does require knowing some syntax. A good “cheat sheet” for Markdown language can be found .

You can add Markdown cells to a Narrative using the translucent bluebuttons at the bottom right of the main Narrative panel. The button on the right is the “Add Markdown Cell” button and will add a Markdown cell under the currently selected Narrative cell.

New Markdown cells contain the placeholder text “[Empty Markdown / LaTeX cell]” (LaTeX is another formatting language). To edit a Markdown cell, double-click it to enter edit mode. When you’re done, press Shift-Return to exit the cell.

(The >_ buttonadds a code cell, which is beyond the scope of this user guide. However, we will share one useful tip if you do want to try using a code cell: press Shift-Return in the cell to execute the code.)

Via the arrows and menu itemsin a Narrative cell, you can move the cellup or down, collapse or expand it, show the code that runs the analysis, get more info about the app, or delete the app cell. The cell menu can be opened by clicking the “…” in the upper right corner of a cell.

To rename a Narrative, click on its name at the top of the Narrative window. A window will pop up to let you change the name.

If you decide to delete a Narrative that you own, click the trashcan icon. Delete with caution, because currently there’s no way to get your deleted Narrative back.

The “Show Advanced Controls” option under the “Narratives” tab lets you “Set the Active Narrative for a Workspace”. (Workspace is an older term for a project–a collection of data and analyses.) You will probably not need to use this option, unless you are trying to retrieve old Narratives that you created in an old version of the Narrative Interface.

Several decades ago, Saudi Oil Minister Sheikh Yamani gained recognition for his insight into global development: “The Stone Age did not end for lack of stone, and the Oil Age will end long before the world runs out of oil.” Today, we live in what many call the Information Age, and we are in absolutely no danger of running out of information, particularly in data form. There is a general perception that we are overwhelmed with data, making the ability to store, process, analyze, interpret, consume, and act upon that data a primary concern. For large-scale, multi-national organizations and those in heavily regulated industries— such as finance, healthcare, or those covering multiple industry verticals — the situation becomes even more complex and challenging. Escalating data concerns are rampant in the Internet of Things (IoT) Age, during which growth of data is exceeding the capacity of traditional computing. The question then becomes, how do we consume those data sources and transform them into actionable information?

The Stone Age did not end for lack of stone, and the Oil Age will end long before the world runs out of oil.

There are many sources that predict exponential data growth toward 2020 and beyond. Yet they are all in broad agreement that the size of the digital universe will double every two years at least, a 50-fold growth from 2010 to 2020. Human- and machine-generated data is experiencing an overall 10x faster growth rate than traditional business data, and machine data is increasing even more rapidly at 50x the growth rate.

"Approaching the Infinite" is a blistering 40 minute drone performance by the Ecstatic Music Band. The Ecstatic Music Band is a collective of over 10 members. The group performs on both amplified acoustic instruments and electric instruments with tuning systems derived directly from the overtone series. Their compositional-improvisations produce dense and dynamic fields of harmonic interference and reinforcement, while searching for a deep consonance amid the flux of microtonal variations, beating tones, difference tones, and psychoacoustic phenomena. The use of high volumes and long durations creates an immersive sound-field where complex harmonies begin to emerge. Ecstatic Music Band members John Krausbauer, Ezra Buchla, and Agnes Szelag perform on "Approaching The Infinite", their first recording for Fabrica. Recommended for fans of: Terry Riley, Pauline Oliveros, Ellen Fullman, Alvin Lucier, Yoshi Wada, Skullflower, Jean-Claude Eloy, Burning Star Core, the Velvet Underground's Legendary Guitar Amp Tapes.

In late December, Bullitt County GOP officials formally nominated Rebecca Johnson for the District 49 seat. Johnson and her representatives have refused repeated interview requests from us in the weeks since.

The governor set the special election for Feb. 20. The winner would carry out the remaining months of Danny Ray Johnson’s term.

Rebecca Johnson’s opponent was the same as her husband’s: Democrat Linda Belcher.

Belcher lost to Danny Ray Johnson by a narrow margin in 2016, and she had already announced before his death that she would challenge him again.

Belcher attended candidate forums and fielded questions about her platform. Rebecca Johnson never appeared alongside her.

Instead, Johnson reached out to voters on Facebook, in neighborhoods and through mailers. She promised to follow her husband’s path: anti-abortion and pro-gun. She favored marijuana legalization and pledged to reform the state’s public pension system.

Like her husband, her social media was also rife with racistpostings from before her candidacy. In some posts, she identified proudly as a right-wing extremist. In others, she dismissed Muslims and immigrants and mocked the need for transgender rights.

And, like her husband, she embellished the truth.

She claimed to have managed “hundreds of employees” while working at a Louisville aviation firm in the 1980s.

But David L. Vaughan, who served as vice president and general manager of the now-defunct company, said Johnson never managed more than two dozen people. The entire company, he said, employed no more than 225 employees. But he noted that Johnson was a quick learner and good employee.

Records show she also struggled with financial and legal issues over the past three decades -- bankruptcy , bounced checks, unpaid bills and income tax troubles -- some of which were tied to the church .

Rebecca Johnson has been tied to “every facet” of the Heart of Fire Church, she said on her website. The church was often the site of illegal alcohol sales .

Rebecca Johnson was never named in the three citations levied against the church, but she could sometimes be found working behind the bar in the church fellowship hall.

Johnson, as well as her campaign manager and local Bullitt County GOP officials, did not return reporters’ phone calls or respond to emailed requests for interviews.

But the Associated Press asked Johnson about her financial issues. She said, “There is not enough time in the day to go over all of that.”

Johnson continued to post campaign yard signs and host meet-and-greet events until the day before the election.

“The choice is clear,” she wrote on Facebook. “Vote Rebecca Johnson.”

On the Sunday before Election Day, Rebecca Johnson stands in front of a flickering fireplace at the Heart of Fire Church and offers a spirited sermon.
